An “upset” Queen Elizabeth II made a sharp comment regarding Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding guest list, according to reports.
The late monarch reportedly wasn’t happy with the couple’s choice to invite “random” celebrities over members of the royal family.
Royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith shared that the Queen expressed her discontent by remarking, “But it’s my house – and I’m paying for it.” It comes after Meghan’s shocking real role in Harry’s estrangement from his family was exposed.
Additionally, she was reportedly “annoyed” when Meghan and Harry bypassed protocol and directly approached the Archbishop of Canterbury about officiating their marriage at St George’s Chapel in May 2018.
Speaking to American royal commentator Kinsey Schofield, Bedell Smith revealed, “Harry and Meghan just disinvited or didn’t invite a whole group of family and cousins. The children of the Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and of the Gloucesters.
Lady Anson confided to Bedell Smith regarding Meghan following the wedding as she said, “We hope but don’t quite think she is in love.
“We think she engineered it all.”
Meghan rose to prominence on the US legal drama Suits, before finding romance with Harry. They quit the royal family in 2020 before moving to start a new life in California.
Bedell Smith shared on her Substack, “By late February 2019 when Lady Anson and I spoke on the phone, she said ‘I don’t trust Meghan an inch.
“‘To begin with, she was not bad-a straightforward starlet, used to public speaking and charity work. The wedge between the brothers is really too bad.'”
