Teddi Mellencamp has good reason to hope for the best these days and it’s because of what her recent cancer scans have shown.
This comes after doctors diagnosed her with stage 4 melanoma following several tumors that were discovered in her brain and lungs.
However, Mellencamp, who is the daugher of rock legend John Mellencamp, has always been open and honest about the highs and lows of her battle with cancer.
Fortunately, her latest scans took her for a complete surprise and it’s allowing her to picture brighter days ahead.
On the October 3 episode of her podcast, “Two T’s in a Pod,” Mellencamp first shared an update sharing that her latest scans showed “no detectable cancer.”
Needless to say, the news seemed as if it was a huge weight lifted from her shoulders.
“When they told me, I was in such shock. I was like numb,” she said.
Mellencamp even spoke to Radar Online recently, and though she felt grateful, the battle to beat the disease is far from over.
“I’m still going to be having days when I’m feeling sick and stuff because I still am in immunotherapy,” she said.
She will also continue treatment for another year but she’s not in remission yet.
“The way the doctors said it works, it’s like one year, then two years, then at three years you’re allowed to be considered in remission.”
The reality star also took to her Instagram Story and opened up about her everyday struggle.
“Some days are definitely better than others,” she shared. “And you don’t see all the times I’m laying in bed unable to do much.”
She also detailed how she’s learning to rest without guilt, while taking her well-known podcast “week by week.”
Mellencamp also took the time to recognize her famous father for his support throughout her recovery.
On Oct. 24, she posted a photo of him together with her daughters on Instagram.
“It’s been 10 months since my brain surgery and I am so grateful for @johnmellencamp for continuously being there for me and my family the entire time,” she captioned.
