Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor‘s latets scandals seem to have forced the Royal Family to ditch their classic four-word mantra of “never complain, never explain” and develop a new approach. Last week, Andrew was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office on Thursday morning – the same day as his 66th birthday.
Andrew was released from police custody that evening under investigation. While the Royal Family used to keep silent on controversial matters, the arrest has seemed to have been treated differently this time, with King Charles releasing a statement about the law taking its course.
This was followed by Prince William over the weekend admitting that he didn’t feel “calm” at the moment. Speaking to Hello! magazine, royal expert Phil Dampier said: “The days of ‘Never complain, never explain,’ have clearly gone. They can’t just bury their heads in the sand and say we’ve got nothing to say about this. They’re showing that The Firm is still working so Andrew is almost portrayed as one bad apple, so to speak.”
Andrew has always denied any wrongdoing or accusations against him.
