Sharon Osbourne reflected on Ozzy’s humor, charisma, and authenticity in a BBC Radio WM interview

Ozzy Osbourne’s wife Sharon Osbourne is celebrating her late husband.
To mark one year since the Black Sabbath icon died at age 76, Sharon spoke to BBC Radio WM about Ozzy’s life and legacy in a new interview shared on Wednesday, July 22.
The TV personality, 73, told the outlet she wants fans to “remember how funny [Ozzy] was — funny and charismatic and real.”
“As Ozzy would say, ‘when you want to remember me, just yank up the music really loud, as loud as you can get it, and just head bang’,” Sharon expressed, noting that he was “authentic” throughout his life. “He never tried to be anything other than what he was, and he would tell you the truth about everything and that was him, you knew where you were with him.”
“He was just genuine, so genuine and funny,” added Sharon, who was also Ozzy’s former manager. “I mean, we could have the worst arguments in the world but we would end up laughing because he would say something so ridiculous that we would just crack up.”
Ozzy died on July 22, 2025. A death certificate obtained by PEOPLE at the time noted that Ozzy died of “out of hospital cardiac arrest” and “acute myocardial infarction,” with coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease with autonomic dysfunction listed as “joint causes.”

Sharon spoke about how Ozzy’s final concert at Villa Park in July 2025 raised money for three charities: Cure Parkinson’s, Acorns Children’s Hospice and Birmingham Children’s Hospital’s charity.
She assured that support for the charities “will go on” as they look to “find a cure for Parkinson’s, because people don’t realize it’s more and more prevalent.”
In celebration of Ozzy’s life, the first-ever “Ozzy Day” (featuring live performances of Black Sabbath classics, orchestral sets, public art and gatherings of heavy metal super fans) was held in his U.K hometown of Birmingham on July 22.
“This is the home of metal,” Sharon told BBC Radio WM of Birmingham. “It’s Ozzy’s home, it’s where he was born, what he loved and [Ozzy Day] wouldn’t work anywhere else… He loved this city, he loved its people. He was proud of being a Brummie and that’s it.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Sharon said of Ozzy, “He was just a real bloke, a really good bloke with a big heart and he wanted to give back.”
