The slate kicks off with the Italian theatrical release in October of Desire: The Carl Craig Story, the feature documentary profiling Detroit techno pioneer Carl Craig, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Following runs in the UK and Ireland earlier this year, and with recent theatrical screenings in the U.S., Jean-Cosme Delaloye’s film is described as “an intimate portrayal of Craig’s life and artistry, combining archive material, interviews with peers and collaborators, including Laurent Garnier, Roni Size, Gilles Peterson and a soundtrack that reflects both his genre-defying creativity and the cultural history of Detroit”.
The move into Italy will be led by Sovereign founder and CEO Andreas Roald and Head of Distribution Chee Keong Cheung, who will oversee a programme of 2-3 releases annually across cinemas and VOD platforms.
