Taylor Swift has released the music video for her song “Opalite” after the track became a fan favorite following the release of her “The Life of a Showgirl” album
Taylor Swift kicked off the New Year with a major musical announcement, unveiling the music video for Opalite.
The song was initially part of her October release, “The Life of a Showgirl” album. It marks the second track Taylor has transformed into a visual offering for fans, following “The Fate of Ophelia” which launched the album’s promotional campaign.
The latest song quickly became a crowd favorite, with supporters urging the artist to expand on Opalite. The 36-year-old performer opened up about her creative journey in a post on X, previously Twitter. Taylor revealed that “the first spark of an idea” came during her guest spot on the Graham Norton Show, where she flaunted her engagement ring, which brings together “a random group of actors, entertainers, musicians.”

Taylor’s episode broadcast on October 3, coinciding with her album launch, and included Cillian Murphy, Domhnall Gleeson, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Lewis Capaldi. All five made an appearance in the music video, including the Irish legends Cillian and Domhnall. Graham was also invited to the music video, making three Irish stars.
“All people whose work I’ve admired from afar. When we were all talking during the broadcast, Domhnall made a light hearted joke about wanting to be in one of my music videos. He’s Irish! He was joking! Except that in that moment during the interview, I was instantly struck with an *idea*. And so a week later he received an email script I’d written for the Opalite video, where he was playing the starring role,” she explained.
According to Taylor, the artistic vision for the project drew from the 90s, which was evident throughout the video’s visuals.
The “Opalite” video featured fashion selections that unmistakably evoked the era, including layered crewnecks, denim overalls, and scrunchies. Additionally, dancers appeared in traditional leotard workout video costumes and Taylor, herself, took part in a home pilates routine.
“Like a school group project but for adults and it isn’t mandatory. To my delight, everyone from the show made the effort to time travel back to the 90’s with us and help with this video. You might even recognize some friendly faces from The Eras Tour,” she said, mentioning several of her celebrated dancers. “I got to work with one of my favorite people in the world, Rodrigo Prieto, again! I had more fun than I ever imagined.”
Taylor also disclosed that the video captured the nostalgic aesthetic as it was filmed on traditional film stock. “Made new friends, metaphors, and fashion choices. It was an absolute thrill to create this story and these characters,” she continued.
The music video dropped on Spotify and Apple Music with a timed release before becoming available on other platforms like YouTube.
