Terri Irwin is remembering her late husband in a special way.
On Thursday, April 16, the proud grandmother, 61, shared a snap on Instagram of her granddaughter Grace, 5, whom her daughter Bindi Irwin and husband Chandler Powell welcomed in 2021, enjoying time on a swing that her late husband Steve Irwin made for their daughter Bindi. In the caption of the post, Terri reflected on how happy he’d be if he could see Grace playing on the swing.
“Steve originally built this swing for Bindi. He would be so happy to know that now Grace is playing in the sunshine on the swing he made with love.💕,” she wrote.
Back in March, Bindi, 27, shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram to her “sunshine” daughter Grace on her 5th birthday. The post, which had a few snaps of the mother-daughter pair, also included some solo pictures of Bindi and Powell, who are celebrating their sixth wedding anniversary.
“March 25. The most meaningful day of my life. On this day every year we celebrate two wonderful events. Our wedding anniversary, and Grace’s birthday,” Bindi wrote. “Our beautiful daughter was born on our first wedding anniversary (what are the chances?!). Happy fifth birthday to our sunshine, and happy sixth wedding anniversary to my incredible husband. I love you both with all my heart. ❤️.”
Powell also shared a special tribute to his baby girl on her big day on Instagram. Under the snap of him and his baby girl smiling next to her two-tier birthday cake, he penned a sweet message for his “little ray of sunshine.”
“5 years old today! Love this little ray of sunshine,” the doting dad wrote. “Being a dad has been my favorite chapter in life and it’s all because of how wonderful you are, Grace. Happy birthday 💕.”

In addition to the proud parents, uncle Robert Irwin showed his love and appreciation to his niece, sharing several snaps of them throughout the years on Instagram.
“Happy birthday, Grace!” Robert began. “I can’t believe how fast 5 years have gone by. I’m one very lucky uncle!”
The couple welcomed their daughter back in 2021, exactly one year after they wed at the Australia Zoo.
In her August 2023 PEOPLE cover story, Bindi shared that she underwent surgery for endometriosis and referred to Grace as her and Powell’s “tiny little miracle.” Bindi added that she and Powell “feel so lucky to have Grace.”
She explained, “There was every chance that we wouldn’t have been able to have a little one, so to have our beautiful girl, we are so lucky.”
