Katherine LaNasa has admitted that she believes in ghosts, claiming she was haunted by the spirit of her late ex-husband, Dennis Hopper, for a “really long time.”
The Pitt star opened up about the situation in a recent interview with W Magazine, saying, “I do believe in ghosts. The ghost of Dennis Hopper would not leave me alone for a really long time. He visited me first in ways that were scary.”
LaNasa, who was married to Hopper from 1989 to 1992, said that one time he appeared to her as he looked at the Academy Awards, in a “wheelchair, and he fell down, and it was super upsetting.”
The Emmy-winning actress said even though she and Hopper had been divorced a really long time, she was “the last wife that he’d been” with that he wasn’t currently divorcing. “So, I think that level of intimacy when you’re dying is maybe only something you can do with a partner.”
LaNasa was Hopper’s fourth wife, following his divorces from Brooke Hayward, Michelle Phillips, and Daria Halprin. After separating from LaNasa, the Blue Velvet actor went on to marry actress Victoria Duffy in 1996. Hopper filed for divorce from Duffy about five months before his death in May, 2010. He was 74 years old at the time of his passing.
“He used to come over me in a sweat, and I told him he had to leave me alone, and then he did,” LaNasa added of her ghostly encounters. “And then I felt really weird about it. And then the day that I told someone how weird I felt about it, I walked home an odd way and ran into a gallery that had all of his photographs up.”

She said there was a photograph of him at the very back of the gallery, “with a fedora on, winking at the camera.” LaNasa shared that, “It felt like he was letting me go.”
However, she said he came to her one last time in a dream, where the pair of them were at a cafeteria in Greece. “He told me that he was okay and that he wasn’t in pain anymore, and he was good,” she shared. “And I never heard from him again.”
Following her divorce from Hopper, LaNasa married actor French Stewart in 1998. The former couple separated in December 2009. She married actor Grant Show, whom she met on the set of Big Love, in August 2012, and the couple went on to welcome a daughter in March 2014. LaNasa also had a son with Hopper, Henry Lee Hopper.
