Donald Trump disclosed what Queen Camilla said about the new renovations he made to the office.
The Republican president, 79, spoke at The Forum Club of the Palm Beaches Dinner in Florida on Friday, May 1. Trump talked about many things in his speech such as the war on Iran and the economy. During his speech, he spoke about the Oval Office and Camilla’s reaction to it.
“I’ll be in the Oval Office—the beautiful, most powerful, most incredible office in the world—people walk in, and they say, ‘Wow.'” Trump said. “The biggest people in the world, even the Queen, the other day, she walked in with King Charles.”
“Camilla, she said, ‘Wow, this is the Oval Office’ and when the Queen of England says that, it’s very cool,” he added.
Trump continued in his speech, saying he gave the office the “Mar-a-Lago treatment”, saying he fixed the private club he has owned since 1985 and made “it better than it’s ever been.”
Trump changed the Oval Office during his second presidential term, making it more gold and extravagant. The changes included gold trimming on the ceiling with a gold presidential design, gilded door frames, and a fireplace. The cherub sculptures inside the door frames were also painted gold.
Gold signage was placed outside the Oval Office. Trump also has jhad golden coasters with his name and current presidential number (47) on them made for the office.
There are various gold statues and ornaments in the room, as well as numerous portraits of presidents with gold frames. The room’s color palette is primarily gold and white.
The Palm Room, which connects the White House Residence to the West Colonnade, went from having plants, green benches, and a tile floor to a new chandelier and white marble floor.
A White House spokesperson told Fox News that the gold, “of the highest quality,” was personally paid for by Trump.
The former reality TV star also added the Presidential Walk of Fame along the West Colonnade of the White House that displays every US president in gold frames. However, former President Joe Biden was the only one without an official portrait, instead having a photograph of an autopen.
Trump also removed Obama’s portrait from the Grand Foyer and replaced it with a painting of himself on the day of the July 2024 assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania.
