Twins vs. Royals Rain Delay, June 4: Details, Weather Updates, Game Start Time

Today’s game between the Minnesota Twins (29-34, third in AL Central) and the Kansas City Royals (24-38, last in AL Central) at Target Field has entered a rain delay in the sixth inning with the Royals leading 6-5.

It’s been a bullpen game for Minnesota. Andrew Morris started and threw two innings, Mike Paredes threw 3 2/3 innings, and Anthony Banda threw 1/3 of an inning. Meanwhile, Seth Lugo has been Kansas City’s only pitcher in today’s game thus far.

Byron Buxton tied the game, 1-1, with a leadoff homer in the bottom of the first inning. Kansas City quickly retook the lead on a wild pitch from Andrew Morris in the top of the second inning before Victor Caratini tied the game back up on an RBI double. Kody Clemens gave the Twins a 3-2 lead with a solo homer in the bottom of the third inning, and the Royals responded with a solo shot from Michael Massey in the fourth. Ryan Kreidler hit an RBI triple in the fourth inning, and Kody Clemens hit another solo homer in the fifth to make the score 5-3 in Minnesota’s favor. Carter Jensen tied the game back up 5-5 with an RBI double in the sixth before miscommunication between Kreidler, the shortstop, and second baseman Luke Keaschall allowed Kansas City to go up 6-5.

After the misplay from Kreidler and Keaschall, the rain delay may be exactly what the Twins need. We will keep you updated on when the Twins will resume play.

Per Weather.com, there’s a 99% chance of thunderstorms at 9 p.m. CDT, and a 61% chance of rain at 10 p.m. There’s no rain or thunderstorms in the forecast from 11 p.m. through the rest of the night.
