BENNINGTON — United Counseling Service will host a free/pay what you can screening of Well Told Films production, Gone Guys’, at Bennington Theater on February 4 in partnership with the Richard E. & Deborah L. Tarrant Foundation and Vermont Community Foundation. This event will include a facilitated panel discussion with Q&A after the film. Tickets are available at ucsvt.org/event/gone-guys.

‘Gone Guys’ is a documentary exploring the mental health crisis experienced by young men and boys over the past 50 years, including loneliness, isolation, suicide, and substance misuse. The film is set in rural Vermont and combines data with personal testimony to bring these relevant issues to light and tell the stories of those working to support boys and young men in their communities. Content advisory: This film includes references to substance use, suicide, and mental health struggles.

From Vermont Community Foundation President and CEO Dan Smith: “This is an issue we are hearing more and more about from parents, educators, business owners, and others. Something is out of sync for many boys and young men, and it’s showing up in classrooms, job sites, and communities. As a community, we must hold two truths at once: that advancing opportunity for women and girls remains essential—and that boys and young men are struggling in ways we can no longer ignore. Gone Guys invites us to face that complexity with care, curiosity, and a willingness to listen.”
