William Blair announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Inner Circle Sports, a boutique investment bank focused on the global sports, media, and entertainment sectors. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
Founded in 2002, Inner Circle Sports advises clients across mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, limited partner transactions, debt financing, and valuation services within the sports, media, and entertainment ecosystem.
The firm’s client base includes sports team owners, leagues, municipalities, universities, investors, sports operating companies, and media and entertainment companies.
William Blair said the acquisition expands its investment banking platform and strengthens its advisory and capital markets capabilities within sectors benefiting from long-term growth trends across professional sports, collegiate athletics, youth sports, media, and entertainment.
Inner Circle Sports will continue operating under its existing brand name for a period following the acquisition.
The companies noted that Inner Circle Sports has advised on numerous high-profile sports transactions across the United States and Europe, including work involving Liverpool FC and the Philadelphia 76ers.
William Blair’s investment banking group advised on more than $850 billion in completed transaction volume between January 2021 and December 2025.
Support: Winston & Strawn served as legal advisor to William Blair, while Solomon Partners acted as financial advisor and Willkie Farr & Gallagher served as legal advisor to Inner Circle Sports.
