The signatories span the global cinema community, including exiled Iranian figures Zar Amir Ebrahimi, Golshifteh Farahani, Sepideh Farsi and visual artist and filmmaker Shirin Neshat, alongside French actresses Marion Cotillard, Camille Cottin, Judith Godrèche and Ariane Labed, as well as filmmakers Tarek Saleh (“Eagles of the Republic”), Nadav Lapid (“Yes”), Claire Simon, producers Eitan Mansuri, Lawrence Bender, director Dominik Moll (“Case 136”), Gabe Klinger and Mohanad Yaqubi.
“We, the undersigned, with anger, grief, and a deep sense of moral responsibility, condemn in the strongest possible terms the organized crimes committed by the Islamic Republic of Iran against protesting civilians,” read the statement.
The statement comes the country has been rocked by a sweeping crackdown by Iran’s Islamic Republic to crush nationwide protests.
