“iCarly” fans can breathe a sigh of relief knowing stars and on-screen best friends Miranda Cosgrove and Jennette McCurdy keep in touch.
In a new interview with People magazine, the “School of Rock” alum confirmed that her friendship with former costars McCurdy and Nathan Kress remains strong.
“We had each other,” Cosgrove told the outlet. “I’ll always love them, and they’ll always be family to me, because we grew up together for so many years.”
While they may not hang as frequently as adults, Cosgrove said she shares a special bond with her costars after growing up together and collectively grappling with stardom at an early age. She applauded McCurdy for her successful career as a published author, adding that “her path led her to the thing that she loves. So I’m really happy for her.”
“iCarly” stars Miranda Cosgrove and Jennette McCurdy on stage at the Nickelodeon 2008 upfront presentation at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on March 13, 2008.
“I don’t really see her as much now,” Cosgrove said. “I always know she’s out there, and that if I really needed her I could call her, and I hope she knows the same. … I’m always going to be cheering for her.”
Cosgrove, 32, and McCurdy, 33, starred on the 2007 Nickelodeon sitcom as teen internet creators Carly Shay and Sam Puckett, respectively, for six seasons. Kress starred alongside the pair as friend and cameraman Freddie Benson.
After the series ended in 2012, the two would go on to reprise their roles in future projects; however, not at the same time.
McCurdy starred in one season of the Nickelodeon spin-off series “Sam & Cat” the following year alongside Ariana Grande, though Cosgrove did not return to guest star.
Meanwhile, Cosgrove joined fellow “iCarly” alum Jerry Trainor and Kress for three seasons of a Paramount reboot series between 2021 and 2023. McCurdy opted out of returning in any capacity.
Following a pause from acting to pursue a psychology degree at the University of Southern California, Cosgrove has returned to Hollywood both in front and behind the camera. She stars and executive produces the Netflix romantic comedy film rom-com “The Wrong Paris,” which releases on Friday, Sept. 12.
McCurdy became a bestselling author with the 2022 memoir “I’m Glad My Mom Died,” where she chronicled her challenging upbringing and preasures with child stardom. The book is slated to be adapted into a 10-episode Apple TV+ series starring Jennifer Aniston.
McCurdy’s debut novel titled “Half His Age” will publish on Jan. 20, 2026, detailing a provocative affair between a 17-year-old girl and her teacher.
