Saturday Night Live returned to Studio 8H with its season premiere, marking the start of a new chapter following its 50th milestone.
Five new characters joined the cast, while the hosting duties went to one of music’s hottest stars.
Bad Bunny, who was recently slammed by Tomi Lahren, took the stage as both host and performer, taking a brutal shot at Fox News whilst referring to his upcoming Super Bowl halftime performance.
“I’m very, very happy, and I think everybody is happy about it,” Bad Bunny said during his opening monologue, adding, “Even Fox News.”
The screen then showed a plethora of spliced Fox clips referencing his upcoming NFL halftime performance
Amy Poehler will lead the October 11 show, and Sabrina Carpenter will lead on October 18.
The new season follows notable characters’ leaving.
Ego Nwodim, Devon Walker, Emil Wakim, and Michael Longfellow confirmed last month on social media they were stepping away.
The changes arrive as SNL comes off a historical year.
The series won 12 Emmy Awards in September for its anniversary programming, including recognition for its star-studded 50th season special.
