Bryan Cranston is taking home Emmys gold once again.

The Breaking Bad star won the 2025 award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his work in The Studio. Cranston portrayed Continental Studios exec Griffin Mill on Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s Hollywood satire show, and was specifically awarded for his work on the episode “CinemaCon.”

Cranston beat out four other The Studio guest actors who all played fictionalized versions of themselves on the show: Martin Scorsese, Dave Franco, Anthony Mackie, and Ron Howard. The lone non-Studio nominee was Jon Bernthal, who was nominated for his turn on season 3 of The Bear (and won the same category last year for the restaurant dramedy’s second season).

The win marks Cranston’s first Emmy since the conclusion of Breaking Bad, and his first Emmy for a comedy performance overall. He previously won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for playing Walter White in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2014, and was also nominated in that category in 2012 and 2014. Cranston also won two additional Emmys for Outstanding Drama Series as a producer on Breaking Bad in 2013 and 2014, and was also nominated in the same category in 2012.

Cranston also received three nominations for his comedic work on Malcolm in the Middle, landing nods for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in 2002, 2003, and 2006. He was also previously nominated for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series in 2018 for his appearance in Curb Your Enthusiasm, and received noms for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie and Outstanding Television Movie for 2016’s All the Way.

Rogen — who co-created, starred in, and co-directed every episode of The Studio — previously told Entertainment Weekly why he thought Cranston was the perfect performer to play Griffin.

“His ability to be both funny and intimidating was very important,” Rogen says. “Someone who is kind of silly and goofy but then on a dime locks in and you’re like, ‘Oh no, this man might kill me.’ And that became a very important part of the character.”

The 2025 Primetime Emmy Awards, hosted by Nate Bargatze, air Sunday, Sept. 14 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on CBS.
