Music City is going full Dolly this summer. Dolly Parton’s Threads: My Songs in Symphony, the multimedia symphonic production co-created and co-produced by Parton alongside Schirmer Theatrical and Sony Music Publishing, opens a seven-week limited engagement with the Nashville Symphony on June 16. Performances continue through July 31 at Schermerhorn Symphony Center.
The show runs 90 minutes without intermission, pairing live orchestral performance with original video content that features Parton guiding the audience through her catalog and career. Newly crafted orchestrations by David Hamilton accompany fan favorites “Jolene,” “Coat of Many Colors,” and “I Will Always Love You,” along with personal selections chosen by Parton herself.
Concertgoers at every performance will receive a fabric swatch cut from one of Parton’s own dresses — a keepsake that doubles as a nod to the production’s central metaphor. Exclusive merchandise will be sold via the Dolly Merch Trailer stationed at One Symphony Place on select dates throughout the run.
A companion exhibit, Dolly’s Hall of Fame Gallery, will be accessible to ticket holders across the engagement. The collection displays Parton’s gold and platinum album awards, serving as an early preview of pieces slated for the forthcoming Life of Many Colors Museum.
For opening night and each Friday performance, premium celebration packages offer a range of elevated options suited to girls’ nights out, bachelorette parties, and family outings. Those packages include backstage tours, VIP lounge access, box seating, exclusive gift bags, and additional perks.
The residency arrives as Nashville marks a broader summer of Dolly-centered events, including Parton’s exhibition at the Country Music Hall of Fame and the opening of SongTeller Hotel and Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum. After the Nashville engagement concludes, Threads heads to Spokane, Washington; Houston, Texas; and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Tickets are available at nashvillesymphony.org; additional tour dates at dollysymphony.com.
