Sofía Vergara was all set to go to the 2025 Emmys when an allergic reaction intervened.
Vergara, a five-time nominee, shared why she wasn’t at the ceremony on Instagram Sunday night.
“(Didn’t) make it to the Emmys but made it to the ER,” she said. “Sorry I had to cancel!”
She paired the message with a photo showing her left eye nearly swollen shut (see below).
“Craziest eye (allergy) right before getting in the car!” she said in the post.
Vergara, 53, was nominated for the Emmy for outstanding lead actress in a limited or anthology series last year for her performance in Netflix’s “Griselda.”
Before that, she received four consecutive Emmy nominations, from 2010 to 2013, for playing Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on the ABC series “Modern Family.”
Vergara did not say what caused the allergic reaction that seemed to only affect her left eye. She had makeup on when she took the picture.
She also shared a video of herself on a table, ostensibly at the emergency room.
In another clip, she rinses her eye at an eyewash station.
Vergara, who is also a judge on “America’s Got Talent,” was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2000, when she was 28, after doctors discovered a lump in her throat during a checkup.
She was successfully treated with radiation and surgery.
