Last year, we reported on the revival of RedOctane, the games developer behind the original Guitar Hero games. Now the returned studio has announced its comeback title: Stage Tour.
As its first trailer makes clear, this is very much in the same territory as the Guitar Hero series: a riff-tacular rhythm game with players having to time button-presses to colourful notes falling down an on-screen fretboard.
“Familiar, but fresh. Don’t reinvent the wheel, evolve the wheel in the right way,” is how RedOctane described the new project, which is due for release in the Autumn.
“One of the ways to play the game is playing together as a full band. You can also play solo, or with friends using any combination of instruments you like as well as using control pads as well as keyboard and mouse,” explained the company.
Stage Hero will be a digital download for PC and consoles. And physical guitar controllers like the good old days? “We will absolutely offer a guitar bundle. That just feels right,” promised RedOctane.
