Savannah Guthrie’s former TODAY Show co-anchor and close friend, Hoda Kotb, posted a touching message on Instagram Stories on Thursday, February 12, as the hunt for Nancy Guthrie goes on.
The 84-year-old woman disappeared on February 1 and is believed to have been taken from her Tucson residence in Arizona. Since that time, local law enforcement, alongside the FBI, have been actively searching for Nancy. While the 54-year-old deals with her mother’s vanishing, Savannah has taken leave from her anchoring responsibilities on the TODAY Show and the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics.
On Friday, February 12, Hoda shared a message on her Instagram Stories expressing support for Savannah.
The 61-year-old uploaded the words, “Hope is believing that they are held, even when we cannot hold them,” against a plain white backdrop accompanied by the track ‘A Gentle Sunlight’ by James Quinn.
Hoda’s backing of her longtime colleague extends past social media, as she has been covering for her on the NBC morning program while she faces this devastating situation, reports Irish Star.
“Hoda’s joining us this morning as our TODAY family continues to navigate uncharted territory, balancing the updates on the search for Savannah’s mom with all the other stories of the day, like we normally do, but we know things are far from normal right now,” TODAY anchor Craig Melvin observed.
“You know what, Craig? We always talk about our show as a family. We are a family,” Kotb remarked on Monday, February 9. “I’m part of the family. I’m happy to be with you because we show up for each other.”
Hoda has also decided against taking on Olympic hosting responsibilities in Milan, Italy, opting instead to stay close to the 55-year-old during the ongoing search for his mother.
Nancy disappeared on January 31, and authorities suspect she was taken from her residence on February 1. The FBI publicly released footage and images captured by the home’s doorbell camera, revealing a masked individual wearing gloves and carrying a firearm near the front door.
Since releasing the video, thousands of leads have poured in, although no suspects have been publicly identified. Officers have been conducting extensive searches and canvassing the neighborhood for any trace of Nancy
On Thursday, Fox News revealed that a white tent had been set up outside the residence in an area where Nancy’s blood was allegedly discovered following her disappearance. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is working alongside the Federal Bureau of Investigation in efforts to locate Nancy.
