Joining King Charles for the premiere of his documentary Finding Harmony in January, the Duchess of Gloucester proved that she is not only reliant on heirloom jewels for her masterful style. Marking the occasion, Birgitte wore a brooch designed by Tamsin Lines, a graduate of The King’s Foundation embroidery course. Crafted from straw offcuts, silk thread, and beads, the piece was made using tambour and needlework techniques.
‘She looked at it and tried it on,’ Tamsin told Hello! Of the ‘dream project’, adding that Birgitte took a marked interest in the materials and processes used to craft the brooch. ‘I think she was surprised by the level of detail, with the brooch being so small.’
Whether it’s heirloom art deco or modern-day sustainable style, the Duchess of Gloucester truly can’t be beaten when it comes to royal jewellery.
