Jelly Roll’s daughter, Bailee Ann DeFord, previously called her father’s estranged wife, Bunnie Xo, her “fav person.”
Bunnie, 46, was the subject of an Instagram grid birthday tribute posted by Bailee Ann, 18, in 2023. “Happy birthday to my fav person, my idol, my mentor, the most gorgeous woman i know, a kick ass business woman, my number one fan, and most importantly my mama,” Bailee Ann wrote at the time. “I love you to the moon & back always.”
Jelly Roll (real name Jason Bradley DeFord), who filed to divorce Bunnie Xo (real name Alisa Andrea Carter) on May 18, shared primary custody of Bailee Ann with Bunnie before the child turned 18. (Bailee Ann’s biological mother, Felicia Beckwith, is Jelly Roll’s ex.)
On Tuesday, June 16, Bailee Ann broke her silence regarding Jelly Roll and Bunnie’s split, sharing via TikTok, “I am disgusted at how invested everyone is in a very clearly private family matter. It’s fkn crazy,” she wrote over a photo of herself in bed. “Go on somewhere yall. Worry ‘bout your house — not mine. I’m not speaking on it — yet.”
Us Weekly confirmed on Monday, June 15, that Jelly Roll had filed a divorce petition with a Tennessee court about one month prior. Per his legal documents, obtained by Us, Jelly Roll listed the date of separation as May 9, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason.
Us reached out to the estranged couple’s lawyers at the time for comment.
News of the couple’s split shocked fans, particularly as Bunnie had spoken about her experience with in vitro fertilization (IVF) during a January interview with People, describing the journey as “one of the hardest things” she’d ever been through. “It’s been rough,” she told the outlet at the time. “I know that God has a plan and he’s going to make it work. I really do. I have no doubt in my mind.”
She also reflected on her past experiences with pregnancies during the interview, noting to the outlet, “I genuinely think that having abortions when I was younger, the journey that I’m going on now with IVF, God’s putting me through this again so that I can be a voice for those women who are going through this process.”
In Bunnie’s memoir, Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic, which was released in February, details of an abortion she underwent at age 16 and two subsequent life-saving abortions to treat ectopic pregnancies were shared.
