Kylie Jenner had a white sequin moment at last year’s Kardashian-Jenner Christmas Eve party. This year, the star made a surprising fashion choice for the annual event: to forgo holiday colors and have a designer moment in black and white John Galliano. In photos she posted on Instagram, Jenner appears in a form-fitting gown from the fashion house, which she paired with an elaborate updo and more dramatic makeup. Her boyfriend, Timothée Chalamet, didn’t appear in any snaps from the party that she shared. Her sister Kendall Jenner did, however:
Jenner has drawn attention this month for her matching looks with Chalamet during his Marty Supreme press tour. On December 8, they posed together in orange Chrome Hearts ensembles at the Los Angeles premiere of the film. Days later, they were photographed separately wearing cherry-red monochromatic looks.
Last fall, Jenner told ELLE why she chooses not to discuss Chalamet or her personal life in interviews: “I think it’s important to keep things to yourself,” she said. “It’s hard for me to make a decision by myself sometimes, so the opinion of the whole world…it can be tough.”
She was more forthcoming on her fashion evolution, however, stating that she doesn’t view her style as quiet luxury. “I think I’m actually going in the opposite direction,” she said. “I’ve definitely had some moments of quiet luxury, as they would say, but I’m always experimenting. At the root of my authentic style, I think I’m more dark feminine.”
She attributes that style shift in part to the fact that “I haven’t had a baby in a few years. The first part of my twenties was having children, learning what my personal style was and then losing it—not knowing how to dress, gaining 60 pounds for both pregnancies. It took me a year to feel like myself again. At 27, I feel more confident and more like myself than ever.”
