Melissa Leo regrets winning Oscar
American actress Melissa Leo believes winning an Oscar killed her career.
The actress starred in 2010 movie The Fighter as Alice Ward, for which she won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.
However, over the years, Melissa has regretted the win.
The 65-year-old actress said the experience limited her opportunities in Hollywood.
In a recent interview she said “It has not been good for me or my career”.
She went on to add that she never wanted to win it in the first place.
“I didn’t dream of it, I never wanted it, and I had a much better career before I won”.
As per the actress, the win narrowed her opportunities and she stated to receive only a certain type of offers.
“I’m happy to play what I’m offered, apart from after The Fighter, when all I was offered was older, nasty women. I don’t want to do that anymore.” she explained.
She has expressed her desire to break away from the typecasting and explore newer characters.
Her most recent work was in 2025’s Guns Up.
