Both dressed in black, Queen Camilla and Princess Kate sang the national anthem together on the balcony.
Moved by today’s service, Duchess Sophie was seen in tears as she watched her husband Prince Edward stood alongside William and the King.
The King, who led the event, was also seen visibly moved to tears as he appeared to close his eyes during the two-minute silence.
Princess Anne was noticeably absent from today’s service as she is currently on a four-day visit to Australia with her husband Sir Timothy Laurence.
Although she is not in the UK, Anne attended a Remembrance Service and laid a wreath at the Anzac Memorial in Sydney.
Buckingham Palace shared news of Anne’s trip several weeks ago, with their statement reading: “The Princess will undertake a series of military engagements in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane during the four-day visit to commemorate the centenary.
“As President of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, Her Royal Highness will lay a wreath at the Sydney War Cemetery.”
