British pop star Lola Young has announced she is taking a break from music after recently experiencing an onstage medical emergency.
The “Messy” singer took to Instagram on Tuesday to share that she is pausing her music career to prioritize her health.
“I’m going away for a while. It pains me to say I have to cancel everything for the foreseeable future,” the post read. “I really hope you’ll give me second chance once I’ve had some time to work on myself and come back stronger.”
Young, 24, collapsed during a performance Saturday night at the All Things Go Music Festival in New York.
Young mouthed a few words to her team backstage, seemingly signaling that she was feeling unwell, before fainting in the middle of performing “Conceited” on Saturday.
Young then cancelled a Washington, D.C. performance slated for the next day. Health concerns also led to the cancelling of a benefit concert on Friday in New Jersey.
The London native told fans that she was “doing OK now” in an Instagram story post after Saturday’s incident.
Young had more than 40 performance scheduled from October through June in several different countries, according to her website. It’s unclear if they will be rescheduled.
The British musician rose to fame in late 2024 following the release of her hit song “Messy,” which garnered massive social media success and topping multiple Billboard charts.
“I really hope you’ll give me a second chance once I’ve had some time to work on myself and come back stronger,” Young said in the post.
