Ryan Seacrest was one of the stars who received a coveted invite to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce‘s wedding, but he had to pull out after previously RSVPing.
The Wheel of Fortune host revealed the news on Monday’s (July 6) episode of On Air with Ryan Seacrest. “Travis and Taylor got married. I had to keep a secret from you,” Seacrest told his co-hosts. “It was a confidential invitation to everybody that was invited. So when you were doing your reports about the wedding, I was just on the inside screaming, outside very composed.”
His co-host, Tanya Rad, was excited to hear all the details until Seacrest broke the news that he couldn’t go. “I RSVP’d to go, and then Disney hired me to do the Fourth of July 250 special on the 3rd and the 4th, so I had to cancel,” the American Idol host explained.
Fellow co-host Sisanie Villaclara called it “a waste of an invite,” but Seacrest fired back, saying, “No, it wasn’t a waste. I was actually really excited. I was kind of torn.”
“I feel like you could have done both,” Rad said.
“No, trust me, I went through the minutes. I couldn’t have done both,” Seacrest replied. “And the actual wedding was in the afternoon. I went through the minutes! But I was so honored and thrilled to be invited.”

Seacrest also revealed that he bumped into Swift and Kelce at a restaurant after RSVPing. “We talked about the event… and she was like, ‘Oh, it’s going to be so much fun. We’re gonna have the best time. It’s gonna go late,’” he recalled. “I’m like, ‘I cannot wait. I’m so excited.’ I met Travis for the first time, actually. He was sitting in the booth next to me.”
The restaurant meeting only added to the awkwardness of the cancelation. “I RSVP’d yes. I saw them a couple of weeks later to confirm. Then I had to cancel,” Seacrest said. “But I had no choice. It’s part of my job at Disney to do these things.”
The Swift and Kelce wedding was attended by several high-profile celebrities, including Brad Pitt, Selena Gomez, Jennifer Lopez, Tom Hanks, Paul McCartney, Steven Spielberg, Ed Sheeran, and more.
