Cardiovascular disease is a great risk for women, especially for those unaware of how it can affect you. The American Heart Association kicked off American Heart Month with its annual celebration, The Go Red For Women Red Dress Collection Concert. Taking place on January 29th at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City, the night celebrated stars while also calling attention to the important cause.

“Music and fashion were at the forefront of the event — all to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease, the No. 1 killer of women,” the event site reads.

The show featured stars such as Miss America 2026, Cassie Donegan; Selma Blair, Edie Falco and Jane Seymour, among others. Even our cover star, Susan Lucci, was at the event raising awareness for cardiovascular disease.

Woman’s World had a chance to chat with the stars on the red carpet and learn how they support the American Heart Association and raising awareness for cardiovascular disease.

Actress Jane Seymour, who stunned in a Christian Abdallah Couture gown on the carpet, opened up about her connection to the American Heart Association. “Heart disease runs in my family,” she shared. “When I realized it was the number one cause of death for women—I found out about that a long time ago…I’ve been involved with this [advocacy for women’s heart health] for a long time.”

As a long-time advocate for women’s heart health, Seymour understands how dangerous cardiovascular disease can be, which is why she does everything she can to keep herself and her heart healthy.

“I found out that I needed to take statins and I needed to pay attention to blood pressure and cholesterol,” she explained. “I work out, I try to do all the things we need to do—nutrition, less stress, no smoking, less alcohol, all of the above. But if it’s in your genetics, you can’t just put your head in the sand and pretend it isn’t.”

Pretty Little Liars star Sasha Pieterse knows how heart disease can affect women. As someone living with PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome), Pieterse is more likely to deal with heart issues at some point in her life, which is why she is supporting the American Heart Association.

“I have a lot of health issues,” the actress shared. “PCOS is really connected to heart disease, so I’m predisposed to that. But I have a lot of heart disease in my family, some friends of mine have it. I feel like it’s constantly in my life.”

As a supporter of the American Heart Association, Pieterse has done a lot of work to advocate for women’s heart health, including hosting the 2026 LA Art Show, which raised money for the association.

She continued, “AHA has done so much good work and I’ve done a lot with their company… They’re just an amazing foundation and I love to be a part of it.”
