Fall River’s waterfront businesses host inaugural Mrs. Roper Romp
A parade of 50 red-headed, caftan-clad pedestrians made their way along the city’s waterfront for Fall River’s inaugural Mrs. Roper Romp. Here’s a recap of Thursday’s “Three’s Company” themed celebration.
SWANSEA — There’s just one month to go until the much-anticipated Silver Stone Castle makes its legendary debut.
The community has been buzzing since the medieval-themed family entertainment facility — which has been in the works for roughly six years — announced it would officially be welcoming the public into its kingdom starting Nov. 20.
Silver Stone owner Joe Estrela has offered several peeks behind the drawbridge as construction progressed over the years, but now that this mythical place is inching closer to reality, they’ve released some long-awaited details for those already planning their first visit.
The castle recently shared its list of prices for various amusement offerings on its Facebook page.
The 87,000-square-foot complex located at 358 GAR Highway, offers “a bit of something for everyone” young and old, Silver Stone teased.
Fun reigns supreme at the eye-catching castle-like Route 6 attraction fit for a king, which houses a giant resident dragon indoors, with highlights such as a billiard room, arcade, rock-climbing wall, go karts, a kids play area, an indoor swimming pool, two stages for live entertainment, and an upcoming virtual reality room.
Ready to get medieval? Here’s a rundown of what you can expect to see and pay upon entering the fortress.

“Anyone going into the pool can stay as long as they want. We even have changing rooms and showers if you want to take a break and go into the castle to do something else for awhile before going back into the pool!” their message states.
Go-karts: Fans of racing can get revved up for Silver Stone’s unique indoor go-kart arena, featuring a track that’s “only the 4th of its kind in the country with game play option racing.”
The go-kart arena offers “dragon scale pricing,” their post reads, so “the more you race, the more you save.”
Silver Stone’s page currently does not indicate how big the track is or the duration of each race.

Pricing ‘comparable as possible,’ but Silver Stone unique from area facilities
Feedback from Facebook commenters on activity and package pricing was mixed, with many expressing enthusiasm while others remarked that rates were pricey.
In response, Silver Stone stated: “We tried very hard to keep pricing as comparable as possible to other locations. … This track offers other advantages outside of those in the surrounding areas and operates differently. We will be offering more packages and discounts in the future.”
What to eat at Silver Stone Castle: Enjoy a royal feast at the Tavern
In addition to activities, an “extremely large” part of what’s offered at the “eatertainment” facility is a full-service restaurant called Silver Stone Tavern, which can accommodate 284 people.
The not-so-basic menu features a royal feast of American and Portuguese fare, each with a nod to the Middle Ages — Smoked Turkey Leg, anyone? — though most only in name.
Start off with your choice from their spread of 14 appetizers, ranging from $9 to $16, including Dragon’s Deviled Eggs, Smoked Turkey Burnt Ends, Blacksmith’s Chouriço, Dragon Wings, Little Necks, Barrel Nachos, loaded and Portuguese Fries.
The menu features three salad options, Portuguese soup and New England clam chowder, and seven sandwiches ($14-$17), such as Royal Reuben, Portuguese Bifana (marinated pork loin sandwich with onions and peppers on a roll), Tavern Fish Sandwich, and Peasant’s Portobello Sandwich.
Handhelds also include five burgers ($15-$19), including Druid’s Veggie Burger and Archer Turkey Burger for those not feeling particularly carnivorous.
Silver Stone is serving up a robust roster of 17 entrees (most in the $18-$30 range), highlights of which include the Castle Steak, Portuguese Steak, Royal Rack of Lamb, Chicken Mozambique, Knight’s Feast (beef skewers served with cornbread, honey butter and sides), Seafood Risotto, Stuffed Shrimp, Jester’s Salmon, Surf and Turf (the priciest at $46), Fish and Chips, and Roasted Leg of Turkey.
A kid’s menu is also available.
