Sydney Sweeney is standing her ground amid the explosive fallout from her controversial American Eagle campaign, and she’s making one thing crystal clear: She won’t be addressing the scandal at this weekend’s Toronto International Film Festival.
On September 4, the Euphoria star, 27, delivered the bombshell statement to Vanity Fair, declaring she’s at TIFF “to support my movie and the people involved in making it, and I’m not there to talk about jeans.”
Sweeney’s world premiere of Christy hits Friday, September 5, but the American Eagle drama continues to overshadow her career moves.

The controversy exploded in July when her “Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans” campaign sparked accusations of promoting eugenics, defined by the National Institutes of Health, as “the use of selective breeding to improve the human race.”
Critics slammed the ad, calling it tone deaf, after Sweeney said: “Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality and even eye color. My jeans are blue.”

As the National Enquirer has previously reported, Travis Kelce recently announced his collaboration with the brand mere days after his engagement to Taylor Swift.
Fans took to social media to immediately question the timing, with many commenting on the 35-year-old NFL player’s Instagram post and note the awkward coincidence following the Sweeney drama.
“Yeah, still not fing with American eagle sorry,” one fan wrote. “Everybody, lets let the man work,” shared another fan. “He has a wedding to pay.”
