We’re about to find out which British icons are great at lying and betraying their co-workers. With some ex-contestants having become famous for their skilled deception (see series two winner Harry Clark’s memoir Staying Faithful), one can only imagine what revealing true colours could do to our national treasures.
Claudia Winkleman is back in host mode with a wardrobe tipped to be “unhinged in taffeta” and will welcome her colleagues to Ardross Castle, despite knowing them, she will remain in character. She said of the challenge, “I think it was scarier, because all I wanted to do was chat to them and make them like me. But of course, I have to be extremely unlikable.
Who are the contestants?
There’s an absolutely stellar line up with everyone from comedy staples like Alan Carr and Lucy Beaumount, to historian extraordinaire David Olusoga. Meet all the contestants here.
Is that all?
Well… that’s up for debate. Rumours suggest a few more famous faces could join the cast later on. Past line-ups have included 22 contestants, but this one only has 19. Could producers be planning to introduce three more players, as they did with the caged twist in recent American and British series?
Celebs who have been rumoured to join the cast late include Bob Mortimer, and… well it’s only really Bob Mortimer. Courtney Cox was another name thrown around earlier this year, but the odds are stacked against her.
Is there a prize?
Just like the regular series, the winning group of Traitors or Faithfuls will have a prize pot of anything up to £100,000 to split between them, but this time the money will go to a charity of their choosing, opposed to the contestants themselves.
When is it on, what nights and how many weeks?
The Celebrity Traitors will air twice a week on Wednesdays and Thursdays, starting at 9.00pm on BBC One and iPlayer. The series has nine total episodes – this differs from the regular The Traitors series, that has 12 episodes and occurs three times weekly.
Don’t make any plans on 6 November – that’s when all the drama wraps up in a 70-minute finale.
Watch The Celebrity Traitors from Wednesday 8 October at 9.00pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
