Trent Reznor has confirmed Nine Inch Nails are currently working on new music.
In 2025, Nine Inch Nails have spent the year glued to the road as part of their Peel It Back world tour, and also released the soundtrack for Tron: Ares.
Now, Reznor has revealed that he has no plans to stop Nine Inch Nails anytime soon, and wants to continue prioritising the band over his work in Hollywood as a composer.
In a new interview with Consequence, Reznor said, “We are working on new stuff and we’re excited to work on it, and we are prioritizing working on Nine Inch Nails over just taking on every single thing that comes up in the other category.”
The Nine Inch Nails maestro continued, “So, beyond that, I can’t say much, but the difference between now and a year ago is the fuse has been lit and the desire is there.”
Reznor first confirmed his intention to get in the studio with Nine Inch Nails during a conversation with GQ in April 2024, remarking, “I think coming out of a stretch of a number of films in a row, I want some time of seeing where the wind blows versus: there’s a looming date on a calendar coming up and we’d better get our shit together.”
Notably, the soundtrack to Tron: Ares was released under the name of Nine Inch Nails rather than Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, like the duo’s typical work in the film industry.
Earlier this year, Reznor told The Hollywood Reporter why they decided to release it as Nine Inch Nails, explaining, “We feel like we can play by different rules a bit, and the people working on the film were excited about that, so we thought we’d try it.”
In 2026, the band will return to North America for a new leg of their Peel It Back tour and will also team up with Boys Noize as Nine Inch Noize at Coachella in April.
