Biographer Peter Biskind claimed in 2010 that Warren Beatty, now 88, had slept with 12,775 women throughout his career.
In his first interview in 20 years with AARP, Beatty responded: “Think about it, sleeping with 12,775 people. That would mean not just that there were multiple people a day, but that there was no repetition.”
Beatty didn’t tie the knot until his mid-50s when he married actress Annette Bening in 1992.
Prior to marriage, he allegedly romanced a parade of high-profile women, including Carly Simon, Madonna, Julie Christie, Barbara Streisand, Cher and Joan Collins.
Reflecting on his romantic past, Beatty insisted: “Look, I never misled anyone. And… and I’m a nice guy.”
“I’m an attentive father, I have to struggle somewhat not to be overly attentive. It’s a burden to be the child of not only one famous parent, but two.”
Beatty and Bening first crossed paths on the Bugsy set in 1991, with Beatty admitting that while he pursued her, she initially showed no interest.
Beatty and Bening share four children: Stephen, 24, Benjamin, 22, Isabel, 19, and Ella, 16.
In a resurfaced interview, Bening praised her husband’s listening skills, stating: “There’s always a part of what he’s doing that’s private, but we talk a lot about everything. Some people pay lip service to listening to others and they’re really not listening.
“He does. He loves actors, and while he’s shooting he’s always interested in what people are saying. He’s a terrific audience.”
