The Toxic Avenger is coming home.
The Toxic Avenger is the new Macon Blair movie starring Peter Dinklage, Kevin Bacon, Elijah Wood, Jacob Tremblay, Taylour Paige, and more. A reboot of The Toxic Avenger franchise created by Lloyd Kaufman for Troma Entertainment, the movie was released in United States theaters last month.
When are the digital, 4K UHD, and Blu-ray release dates for The Toxic Avenger?
Cineverse has now announced that The Toxic Avenger will be available on digital retail platforms on September 30, 2025. It will then be available to purchase on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, DVD, and Steelbook on October 28, 2025. Additionally, there will be an Amazon-exclusive 4K UHD and Blu-ray release on the same day that comes with the original 1984 movie.

In an exclusive interview with ComingSoon, Blair said of his approach to The Toxic Avenger, “To me, it was the idea that there’s a certain offhand silliness to the sense of humor. A little juvenile comedy, but also a little of sweetness. A little violence being played for comedy in a cartoonish kind of way. Also, just a feeling that this world that these characters are in has a greasy, grimy feel to it. All of that together — whatever the plot is, or whatever the characters are going through — it’s that overall bubble that they’re in that characterizes those original movies.”
Bacon, meanwhile, told ComingSoon, “When Macon came to me with the script, obviously, I went back and I thought, okay, the sweet spot, here, will be to not disappoint the fans of the original Troma stuff, but also make something that holds up now. And to not back too far away from it and make it more accessible. But to lean into all of the craziness that was in the original movies. At the same time, just give it a fresh look. And I think he did a really, really nice job in terms of that.”
